About this play
Sticking a few strips of painter's tape onto paper before painting or sponge-stamping over the top, then peeling the tape away at the end, reveals a surprise pattern of clean white lines underneath. The reveal moment teaches cause and effect and the beginnings of planning ahead in art.
How to do it (Step by step)
- Stick a few strips of painter's tape onto plain paper in a pattern.
- Let your toddler paint or sponge-stamp freely over the whole page.
- Peel the tape away together once it's dry to reveal the pattern.
