About this play
Peek-a-boo is far more than a game — it teaches object permanence, the crucial realisation that things (and people) still exist even when out of sight. Each time you reappear, your baby learns that disappearance is temporary, which builds both cognition and emotional security. Extend the game by partly hiding a favourite toy under a cloth and letting them pull it free.
How to do it (Step by step)
- Cover your face, then reveal it with a happy 'Peek-a-boo!'.
- Hide a toy partly under a cloth for them to find.
- Increase the challenge by covering it completely.
