About this music

Camille Saint-Saëns (1835–1921) was a French composer and child prodigy who began performing at age 10. His suite The Carnival of the Animals (1886) was written as a musical joke for friends — each movement depicts a different creature through clever orchestration. The Aquarium movement uses shimmering glass harmonica, flutes, and strings to paint an underwater world of floating, gliding fish. It is one of the most visually evocative pieces ever written for young listeners, almost hypnotic in its gentle motion.

How to do it (Step by step)
  • Play The Aquarium in a dim, calm room.
  • Move your fingers slowly in front of your baby like fish swimming.
  • Describe what you imagine: 'I see a blue fish… a silver one…'
