About this play
A large empty cardboard box is one of the great open-ended toys — with a paper plate steering wheel or a scrap of foil, it becomes a car, a boat, or a rocket in the space of a minute. Pretending together builds imagination, storytelling, and flexible thinking.
How to do it (Step by step)
- Find a large, sturdy empty box and cut a simple opening.
- Add a paper plate 'steering wheel' or foil 'controls'.
- Ask 'where should we drive/sail/fly to?' and follow their lead.
