About this play
Banging is serious developmental work. When your baby hits a pot with a spoon or knocks two blocks together, they are discovering cause and effect: 'my action makes that sound'. Repeating the action to reproduce the result builds memory, intention, and motor control, while the rhythm itself supports early listening skills.
How to do it (Step by step)
- Offer a wooden spoon and a few safe 'drums' (pots, tubs).
- Demonstrate one tap, then let them experiment.
- Name the sounds: loud, soft, fast, slow.
